Sony Xperia Z launched in India for Rs 38,990

After its CES unveil, the Sony Xperia Z has finally landed in India and is available for Rs 38,990. Previously, CEO Kaz Hirai told the press back at MWC last month that the Xperia Z will be launching in 60 countries and the good news is that India was included in that list.

The Xperia Z is Sony?s flagship smartphone and it is loaded with a gamut of features that are worthy of a flagship smartphone in 2013. It has a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1920?1080 pixels that is powered by Sony?s Bravia Engine technology that powers its HDTVs. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Pro CPU that has quad-cores that hum at 1.5GHz. All this horsepower is supplemented by 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, NFC and a microSD slot.

It has a 13-megapixel rear camera that has Sony?s latest Exmor-RS sensor that can shoot HDR video and stills on the fly. It also has a 2,330-mAH battery that Sony claims can last very long time when used in tandem with a build-in Battery Stamina app that efficiently monitors battery usage. It also has a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera and has a waterproof and dustproof exoskeleton that basically is encased in a uni-body chassis that is covered in Gorilla Glass.

On the software front it powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and has Sony?s Android skin running on top. It will be upgradable to Android 4.2.
